SWIMMING PIGS 🐖🐷🐽 🌴The Bahamas, more SWIMMING PIGS 🐖🐷🐽

🌴The Bahamas, more specifically the Exumas are famous for their resident swimming pigs.

🏴‍☠️No one really knows why they have been out here but there are a couple of stories floating around.

🥓One of them being that they were left here by sailors who had planned to come back and cook them (poor piggy’s) but never made of back.

🐟We even got to see stingsrays too (never did I think I would need a stingray and pig side by side with each other 😅)

⛵️There are a few boat companies that will take you to see these pigs and I went with @exumawatersports. I booked the half day tour which was $175 (you can book on a full day and also swim with reef sharks and see Pablo Escobars crashed plane). ✈️

Would you want to see the swimming pigs

✈️🧳How to pack using handluggage only!

💰If you hate paying the RIDICULOUS prices for checked baggage like me, then here’s how to pack with hand luggage only.

And yes I’m talking about week long (or more) holidays 😀

👗Pack a mix and match wardrobe- you get brand new outfits whilst using the same clothes

👠Pack 1 statement shoe plus a pair of casual ones

✈️Wear your bulkiest items on the plane- eg jumpers and jackets (think joey from friends). Try to wear your bulkiest shoes on the plane too.

🧼Decant toiletries into 100ml bottles and buy the rest of what you need at the airport. In fact, do an online order and get it delivered to the airport boots and you can pick it up after security

📦Use packing cubes to compress down your clothes and create more space in your hand luggage

🫧And remember, you can wash your clothes abroad!!

Have I missed anything?

💰Here are my top tips on how to travel often but keep the costs down.

💙Be more flexible with you destinations and go to places that have the cheapest flights. ⬇️

My top tip for finding these is head to @skyscanner add in the dates you want to go and type in “EVERYWHERE” in to the destination box. @skyscanner will bring up the cheapest flights in ascending order.

💙Use deal finding apps like @jacksflightclub @travelzoo_uk @secretescapes @holidaypirates @voyageprive_uk to find deals on flights, hotels and holidays.

💙Avoid paying for checked luggage where possible. Try the clothes rolling technique, you’ll be surprised at how much you can fit in your hand luggage by doing this.

💙Don’t splash out on fancy hotels if you don’t plan on being in the hotel much. This for example could be on a city break, chances are you will spend most of the day exploring and use your hotel litterally to sleep and shower.

💙 If you are solo travelling, stay in a hostel. Meet people that you can do activities with , which can also help share/spread and cut costs.

💙 Get on to Google and find out the best free things to do at your destination.

💙Try to cook some meals where you can. I know part of travel is trying out new foods but if you are doing it often cooking one or two meals is a great way of cutting costs. Alternatively book accommodation that offers free breakfast as part of their package.

💙 Walk as much as you can to cut down on transport costs.

💙Alternatively if walking isn’t an option and you’re in a city, buy their local travel transport card (eg Oyster card for London). I’ve found that a lot of European cities have super cheap train/tram/bus costs and are even cheaper with one of these cards.

💙Rent a car. Renting a car can be sometimes miles cheaper than going on a package tour or excursion. Sometimes this isn’t the case but do your research first to see what’s your best option

Do you have any recommendations? 🌅🐬
TRAVEL OFTEN AROUND YOUR 9-5⬇️ 🟠 Obvious c TRAVEL OFTEN AROUND YOUR 9-5⬇️

🟠 Obvious choice but make use of the weekends. Fly out on Friday night and home Sunday evening. Really good to squeeze in a mini city break.

🟠 For longer holidays use the same method as above. Fly out on a Friday night and home the following Sunday. You can get almost 9 days away and only have to take 5 days off work.

🟠 Make use of your bank holidays. Tag on an extra day off around a bank holiday. For example around the Easter break.

🟠If you are flying on weekdays fly out late evening and fly home early morning so you don’t have to take those flying days off work.

🟠 Work from your holiday. Commit to working one or two mornings whilst you are away. This can help in saving up a few half days when you get to the end of the year. However this is probably not worth it on shorter trips

🟠 If you are able to travel with work. Make a holiday out of that by tagging on a few days holiday after the work trip is over.

In recent years, there has been an abundance of bottomless brunch options popping up across London. From the standard bottomless Prosecco with your breakfast to a Fleetwood Mac sing-along, the list of options are endless.

Whilst most of us are partial to bottomless brunch, there is another kind of drinking experience in London that is capturing everyones attention – The immersive cocktail experience.

The Immersive cocktail experience gives the bottomless brunch a run for its money and after experiencing over 5 immersive cocktail experiences in London, I can totally see why!

Not quite familiar with the concept of an immersive cocktail experience? Think of it as the theatre meets the cocktail bar scene. These two elements are perfectly combined together to give you a fun-filled, boozy evening.

Whether you are heading out for a date-night, or an evening with your friends, there is an immersive cocktail experience to suit all occasions.

So, what are the best immersive cocktail experiences in London? Read on below to find out!

The Bletchley

Location

459 King’s Rd, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ

Price

£36 per person

Includes 1 welcome drink + 2 Cryptic/Mission Cocktails and 1h 45m inside the cocktail bunker.

Theme

As you might have guessed from the name The Bletchley is themed around World War 2 Enigma codebreakers at Bletchley Park. Here you will be able to dress up in Military costume that will be provided for you. You will then get the opportunity to use replica WW2 Engima Machines and your detective skills to help the mixologists here create the perfect personalised cocktails for you. The mixologists will ensure that you do not receive the same cocktail twice and if you don’t like what you have been given you can ask for something new without any issues.

ABQ

Location

18 Bohemia Pl, London E8 1DU

Price

£36 Per person

Includes 1 welcome drink + 2 molecular cocktails and 1h 45m inside the RV.

Theme

ABQ is based on TV series “Breaking Bad”. Here you will be able to step inside Jesse and Walt’s RV and start cooking up some cocktails. You will be provided with some cool yellow hazmat suits and a gas mask before you start experimenting in the lab – Remember it’s Safety first kids! 😉.

After your initial welcome drink, you will be able to select 2 molecular cocktails to make/cook up. This will give you a complete throwback to your year 11 science lessons, only a lot more fun, colourful and with alcohol involved. If like me you like to prepare ahead of time you can find the drink options here.

The Grid

Location

Price

£29.99 Per Person

Includes 2 cocktails and 1hr30 mins inside the experience

Theme

The Grid is an escape room infused with a cocktail experience. Here you will find yourself at the ‘offices’ of an evil startup company named ‘Neosight’. Your mission is to outsmart their AI technology and save the world from extinction whilst enjoying some cocktails along the way. The aim of this escape room is to #ActNormal whilst you fool the Neosight team into thinking that you are there to help them.

Alcotraz

Location

212 Brick Ln, London E1 6SA

Price

£35 per person

Includes your prison pack for the duration of the experience, 4/5 cocktails from your smuggled liquor of choice and 1hr 45 mins inside the cell.

Theme

You must bring your own spirit that you have to “smuggle past the warden”. The staff will then take your spirit and make you some delicious cocktails throughout the night. We had 70cl of rum between 2 of us and were given 5 cocktails each.

You are given a quick briefing and then an orange jumpsuit to wear. Your party is then taken to its own cell block where you drink for the night (a pretty perfect COVID set-up). The staff then provide you with entertainment along the way which I won’t go into as it will spoil it for you.

The Murder Express

Location

63 Pedley St, Greater, Bethnal Green, London E1

Price

£60- £67.50 Per Person

Includes 4 course meal (drinks sold separately) and 2 hours inside the experience.

Theme

The Murder Express is in actual fact an immersive dining experience, rather than cocktail so, therefore, is the most expensive on this list. But, in this case, you certainly get what you pay for. Much like the movie ‘Murder on the Orient Express’, the experience takes you back to the early 20th century and is set on a luxury train. The train doesn’t move but the windows do contain LCD screens that show footage shot from a genuine steam railway train in the Welsh Highlands.

During your time here you will be served a 4-course meal prepared by a MasterChef finalist (drinks in this experience are sold separately). Make sure to prepare for some fun and intense theatrical moments during all of your courses.

The Cauldron

Location

5d Stoke Newington Rd, Dalston, London N16 8BH

Price

Option 1: £25 Per Person for Bottomless Unicorn Gin

Includes 1 hour of bottomless gin in a magical booth.

Option 2: £35.99 Per Person for The Magical Cocktail Experience

Includes 1 welcome drink and 2 molecular cocktail potions and 1hr 45mins of spell casting.

Theme

The Cauldron, as you may have guessed, has a wizard/witchy, Harry Potter-esque theme. Here you can find two different cocktail experiences to choose from.

The first is a bottomless unicorn gin experience. This gives you 1-hour access to a magic wand. This wand enables you to pour glittery pink gin from a mystical unicorn’s head. If you want to mix it up between gins you can also purchase additional potions from their cocktail menu.

The second cocktail experience on offer is a magical potion experience. You are given a full wizard/witches outfit (including wand) and have almost 2 hours to cast spells and make potions (cocktails).

Moonshine Saloon

Location

28-30 Houndsditch, London EC3A 7DB

Price

£35.99

Includes your Saloon pack for the duration of the experience, 4/5 cocktails from your smuggled liquor of choice and 1hr 45 mins inside the saloon.

Theme

Moonshine Saloon is from the same creators of Alcotraz so has a similar setup. This time, however, the experience takes you to the Wild West. The premise here is to smuggle Moonshine (your spirit of choice) into the saloon without being caught by the sheriff and of course, you will be given a Wild West Costume to help you blend in and avoid being caught. Again there will be some extra surprises along the way.

So the question is what one will you try?

If you know of any more immersive cocktail experiences in London that you think should be added to the list then let me know!
