🐘Sri Lankan Safari’s🐘🇱🇰 🍃Sri Lan 🐘Sri Lankan Safari’s🐘🇱🇰
🍃Sri Lanka has a number of national parks where you can go on a safari experience🍃
Some of these include
🐊Yala National Park (This is the most popular NP in Sri Lanka for Safari)
🐊Udawalawe National Park
🐊Minneriya National Park
🐊Wilpattu National Park
🐊Wasgamuwa National Park
🐊Gal Oya National Park
🐊Kumana National Park
🐊Bundala National Park
🐆🧸On the Safari you can expect to see elephants, peacocks, water buffalos, crocodiles and if you are really lucky; leopards and sloth bears!🦚🐘
🚗🍃I have been to both Yala National Park (back in 2016) and Udawalawe (this year). I’d say I much preferred the Udawalawe Safari.
🐆WHY DID I PREFER UDAWALAWE?🐘
🐾It felt more natural 🍃
🟢In Yala the drivers would walkie-talkie each other then there would be a rush of all these jeeps trying to crowd around an animal. My experience in Udawalawe wasn’t like that at all. The only time the drivers would communicate is if they passed each other on a track.
🧘🏽‍♀️It was a lot quieter in Udawalawe 🤫
🟢This might have been to do with the time of day (we set off at 6 am) but most of it felt like we had the whole park to ourselves. At one point we were at a huge lake with water buffaloes, two elephants and crocodiles and we were the only jeep there. It was Magical.
TIPS/RECOMMENDATIONS 💁🏽‍♀️
🦎I would really recommend booking a Stay at Lizard Safari Point in Udawalawe. The rooms are just £15 a night and we booked the tour directly through them and it was the best experience.
🦎The tour cost about £35-£40 which included 4 hours of safari and entrance to the park.
🌅Wherever you choose to do your safari make sure you go early morning!
☔️Also, avoid booking on days when it’s going to rain as apparently the animals will hide!

🎟️First Class Ticket = 3000lkr (£7.90)

🚂You can buy your tickets from the station the night before but the pre book shuts at a certain time, however you don’t need to worry you can easily buy or tickets on the day just make sure to come at least 30 mins before departure
🚂I would highly recommend booking 2nd class over 1st
🚂In 1st the doors should open but all the windows will be shut
🚂In 2nd the windows will be open and the doors will be shut HOWEVER all you need to do is politely ask the ticket collector and they should open these up for you. (We had such a nice guy on our train who was opening up all the doors for us).
🚂2nd is WAYYY more fun you can hang your head out the window, everyone is super friendly and you end up getting chatting with all the other passengers on the train. I don’t think we sat down once on this train because of all the socialising

📆For those of us who are limited to 25 days of holiday a year - 10 days in Nicaragua is TOTALLY doable. You’ll be on a tight schedule and will need to spend more on transport/taxis to get to places on time …. but it’s all worth it. ✈️
⏰If you have more time, I would say stretch to 14 days and up some of the stays to 3 nights. This will give you a chance to relax in each location. 💤

Wild With Nature, Norfolk – A Unique Stay Review

It’s a regular occurrence for me to browse the Canopy and Stars website looking for the perfect off-grid glamping weekend. 9 times out of 10 the ones I fall in love with the most are usually fully booked (for obvious reasons) or about 5 hours away from me (far too long of a drive for a weekend stay).

When I stumbled across Wild With Nature, I knew I had hit the jackpot. A stunning glamping retreat spanning over 750 acres in the Norfolk countryside. Also under 2 hours from my home in Hertfordshire, and to top it all off they had the dates I wanted. I knew I had to snap a booking up quickly because gorgeous places like this don’t stay free for very long.

If you are looking for a place to go that’s off-grid. A place where you can truly immerse yourself and reconnect with nature, then Wild With Nature is the perfect spot for you. Read on below to find out all about it.

Wild With Nature, Norfolk

Who are Wild With Nature?

Wild with nature is a family run business owned by the wonderful Andy and Rebecca. The land on which Wild With Nature is built has actually been in the family since the Second World War. It was once a farm solely dedicated to more traditional farming methods. But since Andy took over the running of the farm back in 1993 they have slowly transitioned away from these methods and moved towards a ‘nature first’ approach. The site is now a heavenly mix of farmland, meadows, lakes and woodland, and is truly a place where nature and wildlife can flourish.

How much does it cost to stay at Wild With Nature?

There are 2 sites at Wild With Nature “Honey Pot Meadow” (an adults-only shepherd’s hut experience for 2) and “The Lakes” (a glamping experience for families and bigger groups). Prices for “Honey Pot Meadow” start at £140 per night and prices for “The Lakes” start at £130 per night. It is a requirement that you book a minimum of two nights for both sites.

How to get to Wild With Nature?

Wild With Nature is located in the Village of Shropham. With the area being quite rural the best way to get here is by car. It is roughly a 2.5-hour drive from Central London and only 40 minutes from Cambridge.

If a car is not a viable option for you then you can hop on the train. To get here you can head to Attleborough train station. From there you can jump in a taxi to the Wild With Nature site, which is roughly a 10-minute drive from the train station.

Facilities at Wild With Nature?

As I mentioned earlier there are 2 main sites at Wild with Nature: “Honey Pot Meadow” and “The Lakes”.

Honey Pot Meadow

With accommodation, set back at the top of the meadow, overlooking the lush green meadow and tranquil waters of the lake, secluded from the rest of the world, Honey Pot Meadow is the ultimate romantic couples getaway. It’s the perfect place to completely switch off!

Onsite you will find two shepherd huts  “Cowslip” and “Orchid”. However, both huts have been carefully positioned so that you get total privacy and ultimately feel like you have the whole meadow to yourselves (apart from the odd deer or pheasant roaming past).

Facilities you will find in your shepherd’s hut:

  • Ensuite Hut
  • All bedding, towels & robes (included)
  • Built in speakers
  • Private Sundowner cabin
  • Private BBQ and fire pit
  • Private pizza oven
  • Wood burning stove fire
  • Small under counter fridge, with freezer compartment
  • Environmentally friendly toiletries by Bramley
  • Crockery, cutlery, glassware, pans, kettle & cafetiere
  • Tea & coffee
  • Private hot tub
  • Lake
  • Rowing boat, paddle boards, kayaks
  • Buoyancy aids

The Lakes

The Lakes, as the name suggests is set in a large meadow amongst a large 8-acre lake. This site is ideal for larger groups and families, or if you like to get close to nature in a more communal fashion.

Facilities you will find at The Lakes:

  • 1 double bed hut
  • Private flushing loo & shower set beside the main hut
  • All bedding and linen(no towels included)
  • Crockery, cutlery, glassware, pans, utensils kettle & cafetiere
  • Washing up liquid and tea towels
  • Disinfectant cleaner and cloths
  • Cool boxes & ice blocks provided
  • Fire pit BBQ for cooking on plus first load of wood
  • Environmentally friendly hand wash, body wash, shampoo and conditioner
  • Loo roll
  • Rechargeable torch
  • Small first aid kit
  • Hand sanitiser
  • Use of the communal Safari Tent (The Nest) with kitchen, dining, seating area, elevated deck. The nest also has fridge freezers
  • Use of the covered outdoor kitchen area, with fire pits, pizza oven and gas plancha
  • Use of the Sailing dinghy, kayaks & paddle boards
  • Use of the communal wood-fired hot tub

What is there to do at Wild With Nature?

Relax! Well, obviously there is much more to do here but relaxing is the aim of the game. There is lots of fun to be had by either going on one of the nearby walks in the meadows, kayaking, paddle boarding, soaking in the hot tub or wildlife spotting (in Honey Pot Meadow some binoculars will be provided for you).

Paddleboarding
Lakes, Norfolk

If you’re the active kind that likes to fit a lot in their day then you can of course explore more of Norfolk. It’s a beautiful county with lots to offer, and well known for its glorious beaches (and resident seals). The coast is between 1/1hr30 drive away from the site.

My boyfriend and I decided to venture out for the day. We headed to Holkham beach and the pretty little market town of Holt. Whilst we did have a great time visiting these spots, we both said how we wished we just stayed onsite, enjoyed some of the local walks and completely chilled out.

So my advice; stay onsite at Wild With Nature!! Enjoy the peace and tranquillity before you have to head back to the hustle and bustle of real life.

An honest review of Wild With Nature?

So, What was my experience of Wild with Nature like? One Word: Incredible!

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Cowslip Hut in Honey Pot Meadow and it was the most beautiful, calming and romantic setting. I can’t forget the instant relaxation we both felt as soon as we arrived!

We were amazed by the sheer amount of facilities as well as the quality of the facilities provided. There were so many beautiful finishing touches that really added to the luxurious feel of the shepherd’s hut.

I couldn’t believe that not only did we get this beautiful hut and hot tub for ourselves, but also the sundowner (a kitchen and hangout area located right next to the hut).

Shephard's Hut, Norfolk

My favourite thing by far was the wood-fired hot tub. Spending the evening relaxing in the hot tub, with a glass of prosecco in hand looking up at the night sky was an experience that was second to none. There is little light pollution here. This means that on a clear night you get to see an abundance of stars.

Another one of our favourite moments was going for a paddleboard on the lake. The couple in the hut next door decided not to make use of the lake, so luckily for us meant we got it all to ourselves. We spent an hour paddling around and trying not to fall in!

We left both saying how we wanted to come back here again, and this time in winter to make the most of the gorgeous wood burners in both the hut and the sundowner.

We will definitely be returning to this wonderful place, but the real question is have I convinced you to book a trip here?
