SWIMMING PIGS 🐖🐷🐽 🌴The Bahamas, more SWIMMING PIGS 🐖🐷🐽

🌴The Bahamas, more specifically the Exumas are famous for their resident swimming pigs.

🏴‍☠️No one really knows why they have been out here but there are a couple of stories floating around.

🥓One of them being that they were left here by sailors who had planned to come back and cook them (poor piggy’s) but never made of back.

🐟We even got to see stingsrays too (never did I think I would need a stingray and pig side by side with each other 😅)

⛵️There are a few boat companies that will take you to see these pigs and I went with @exumawatersports. I booked the half day tour which was $175 (you can book on a full day and also swim with reef sharks and see Pablo Escobars crashed plane). ✈️

Would you want to see the swimming pigs

✈️🧳How to pack using handluggage only!

💰If you hate paying the RIDICULOUS prices for checked baggage like me, then here’s how to pack with hand luggage only.

And yes I’m talking about week long (or more) holidays 😀

👗Pack a mix and match wardrobe- you get brand new outfits whilst using the same clothes

👠Pack 1 statement shoe plus a pair of casual ones

✈️Wear your bulkiest items on the plane- eg jumpers and jackets (think joey from friends). Try to wear your bulkiest shoes on the plane too.

🧼Decant toiletries into 100ml bottles and buy the rest of what you need at the airport. In fact, do an online order and get it delivered to the airport boots and you can pick it up after security

📦Use packing cubes to compress down your clothes and create more space in your hand luggage

🫧And remember, you can wash your clothes abroad!!

💰Here are my top tips on how to travel often but keep the costs down.

💙Be more flexible with you destinations and go to places that have the cheapest flights. ⬇️

My top tip for finding these is head to @skyscanner add in the dates you want to go and type in “EVERYWHERE” in to the destination box. @skyscanner will bring up the cheapest flights in ascending order.

💙Use deal finding apps like @jacksflightclub @travelzoo_uk @secretescapes @holidaypirates @voyageprive_uk to find deals on flights, hotels and holidays.

💙Avoid paying for checked luggage where possible. Try the clothes rolling technique, you’ll be surprised at how much you can fit in your hand luggage by doing this.

💙Don’t splash out on fancy hotels if you don’t plan on being in the hotel much. This for example could be on a city break, chances are you will spend most of the day exploring and use your hotel litterally to sleep and shower.

💙 If you are solo travelling, stay in a hostel. Meet people that you can do activities with , which can also help share/spread and cut costs.

💙 Get on to Google and find out the best free things to do at your destination.

💙Try to cook some meals where you can. I know part of travel is trying out new foods but if you are doing it often cooking one or two meals is a great way of cutting costs. Alternatively book accommodation that offers free breakfast as part of their package.

💙 Walk as much as you can to cut down on transport costs.

💙Alternatively if walking isn’t an option and you’re in a city, buy their local travel transport card (eg Oyster card for London). I’ve found that a lot of European cities have super cheap train/tram/bus costs and are even cheaper with one of these cards.

💙Rent a car. Renting a car can be sometimes miles cheaper than going on a package tour or excursion. Sometimes this isn’t the case but do your research first to see what’s your best option

Do you have any recommendations? 🌅🐬
TRAVEL OFTEN AROUND YOUR 9-5⬇️ 🟠 Obvious c TRAVEL OFTEN AROUND YOUR 9-5⬇️

🟠 Obvious choice but make use of the weekends. Fly out on Friday night and home Sunday evening. Really good to squeeze in a mini city break.

🟠 For longer holidays use the same method as above. Fly out on a Friday night and home the following Sunday. You can get almost 9 days away and only have to take 5 days off work.

🟠 Make use of your bank holidays. Tag on an extra day off around a bank holiday. For example around the Easter break.

🟠If you are flying on weekdays fly out late evening and fly home early morning so you don’t have to take those flying days off work.

🟠 Work from your holiday. Commit to working one or two mornings whilst you are away. This can help in saving up a few half days when you get to the end of the year. However this is probably not worth it on shorter trips

🟠 If you are able to travel with work. Make a holiday out of that by tagging on a few days holiday after the work trip is over.

The best places to eat and drink In Dubrovnik

Croatia, not just a place of breathtaking architecture and impressive landscapes, but also home to some of the most delicious food you’ll probably ever try in your life. On my recent trip to Croatia, I uncovered some of the best places to eat and drink in Dubrovnik. Dubrovnik has a food scene to suit the tastes of everyone. From fresh fish to melt-in-the-mouth meats paired with wines that are maybe a little too easy to drink, it really does have it all.

If you are looking for some of the best places to eat and drink in Dubrovnik, then look no further. I have compiled a list of some of the best places to go; from budget-friendly to the budget-does not-exist (hoping you caught my mean girls reference there) I’ve got you covered.

Read on below to find out whats made it onto the list of the best places to eat and drink in Dubrovnik.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

The best places to eat and drink in Dubrovnik

360

  • Customer Rating: *****
  • Cost: ££££
  • Opening Times: Monday – closed  Tuesday – Sunday 18.30 – 22.30
  • Reservations: Yes (and strongly encouraged)

Number one on the list of the best places to eat and drink in Dubrovnik is the Michelin-starred 360 restaurant.  Expect to eat Croatian delicacies with a modern-day twist and dishes with a strong Mediterranean influence.

Not only is the food and service impeccable here, but the views here are second to none. Located in the confines of the Dubrovnik Old Town walls, overlooking the water, you can enjoy your dinner whilst taking in the sights of the Old Town from this unique perspective.

Cave Bar More

  • Customer Rating: ****
  • Cost: ££
  • Opening Times: Monday – Sunday 10:00 – 24:00
  • Reservations: Walk-in only

One of the best places to eat and drink in Dubrovnik is Cave Bar More (well, more so drinking than eating). If you want to sip your favourite cocktail in a unique location, then Cave Bar More is the place to go. This unique, natural cave was uncovered during the construction of a Hotel (Hotel More) and extends over 3 levels. BUT, if you’re not a fan of caves then don’t fear, simply head up to the beach area on-site and enjoy your drinks from there.

Barba

  • Customer Rating: ****
  • Cost: £
  • Opening Times: Monday – Sunday 10:00 – 00:00 (high season) 10:00 – 21:00 (low season)
  • Reservations: Walk-in only

From Fine dining to good old fashioned fast food (get that image of Mcdonalds out of your head) because Barba is far from your typical fast-food restaurant. All food is made to order, from fresh ingredients. I highly recommend going for the octopus burger!

Tavulin

  • Customer Rating: ****
  • Cost: ££- £££
  • Opening Times: Monday – Sunday  9:00 – 22:00 (open) Monday – Sunday  09:00 – 11:00 (breakfast)
  • Reservations: Reservations accepted up until 20:00

Although this restaurant is aimed at tourists, it offers much more than your typical bistro. This is a family-run restaurant located in the heart of Dubrovnik Old Town. Finding itself on the Michelin guide, this restaurant prides itself on creating traditional Croatian dishes (with a modern spin) using locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. If it’s on the menu, go for the seabass and risotto (to die for).

Dalmatino

  • Customer Rating: ****
  • Cost: ££- £££
  • Opening Times: Monday – Sunday  08:00 – 00:00
  • Reservations: Reservations accepted

Dalmatino is another restaurant that focuses on traditional Croatian Dishes with a modern twist, using fresh, local and seasonal produce, with a heavy focus on meat and fish (so probably not the most vegetarian and vegan-friendly restaurant). I would highly recommend the seared tuna steak with salad.

The Bar

  • Customer Rating: ****
  • Cost: ££-£££
  • Opening Times: Monday – Sunday  08:00 – 23:00
  • Reservations: Walk-in only

Like strawberry cheesecake, and cocktails? Well, you need to head to The Bar immediately for one of their (yep you guessed it) strawberry cheesecake cocktails. Of course, they have more cocktails on offer, from your classic favourites to your slightly more niched flavours – there is something for everyone and is a great place to come for some after-dinner drinks.

Buza & Buza II

  • Customer Rating: ***
  • Cost: ££
  • Opening Times: Monday – Sunday  09:00 – 00:00
  • Reservations: Walk-in only

Buza, and Buza II are two of the best bars in Dubrovnik. Located on the edge of the cliff with panoramic views of the sea, they are the perfect places to enjoy some cocktails whilst watching the waves crash against the rocks.

These bars have been made popular due to their location, so don’t expect anything too fancy.

Fish Restaurant Proto

  • Customer Rating: *****
  • Cost: ££££
  • Opening Times: Monday- Sunday 10:00-23:00 (March- December)
  • Reservations: Yes (and strongly encouraged)

My personal favourite of the best places to eat and drink in Dubrovnik is Fish Restaurant Proto. As you’ve probably guessed from the name this place specialises in seafood, think oysters, lobster and whole fresh fish paired with luxurious wines.

The food is so incredible this restaurant is a hit with the celebs (they even have a TV set up with a slideshow, displaying all the celebs that have eaten here in the past). When you book your table make sure you request to be seated on the first floor, for the best views and ambience.

D’vino Wine Bar

  • Customer Rating: ****
  • Cost: ££-£££
  • Opening Times: Monday- Sunday 10:00- 00:00
  • Reservations: Yes

With a mix of traditional Croatian wines, to wines imported from across the globe, D’vino is sure to have a wine to suit your palette. This a great place to come for a post-lunch or dinner drink.

Azur

  • Customer Rating: ****
  • Cost: ££-£££
  • Opening Times: Monday- Sunday 12:00- 00:00 (March- November)
  • Reservations: Yes (and strongly encouraged)

If you’re looking to spice things up a little then Azur is one of the best places to eat and drink in Dubrovnik where you can do that. The restaurant is Asian fusion, combining Mediterranean dishes with Asian cuisine. It has a small, but carefully curated menu that gets top ratings from all who visit.
