I spent years relying on budget suitcases that barely made it through one or two trips, including one that completely broke on the cobbled streets of Belgrade (you really do get what you pay for). 

That all changed when I started using Level8 luggage.

I’ve now tested three of Level8’s most popular carry-ons: the Grace, the Voyageur, and the Luminous.

I took each of these carry-ons with me on a different kind of trip. I took the Grace on a work trip, the Voyageur on a beach holiday, and the Luminous on a short, local weekend away. 

What I found was that each suitcase is most suited for a specific type of trip; however, there is one case in this group that could definitely be used as a one-size-fits-all (which I will reveal further on in this post).

Level8 Grace Carry-On Review – Best for Business Trips

If you’re heading out on a work trip or flying regularly for business, the Grace 20” is a really great choice. 

I used this one on a work trip, and I very much appreciated two things about the design of this case: the front laptop compartment and the expandable design.

The dedicated laptop section fits up to a 15.6” device and makes it incredibly easy to get through airport security, as there is no need to dig through your main compartment (I usually hate travelling with my laptop for this reason, but Level8 have solved this issue). 

And for someone like me who always ends up packing things “just in case”, the expandable feature is super handy (although this case is definitely better suited to minimalist packing).

This section gives you an extra 1.57 inches of space when needed, which can mean the difference between a stress-free packing and having to sit on your suitcase to get it shut (which I have had to do more times than I would like to admit in my life).

In terms of design, it’s very sleek and extremely professional-looking. It’s made from PC+ABS material with a micro-diamond texture that adds durability while keeping it fairly lightweight at 9 lbs.

That said, the Grace is definitely more suited to short, structured travel. With just 36L–42L of space, you’ll have enough room for a couple of outfits and shoes, but it’s most certainly not built for holidays, where you’ll want to pack a few options.

If you often travel for work and need something functional and secure, this one is a great choice. 

Level8 Voyageur Carry-On Review – Best All-Rounder

Out of all the Level8 carry-ons I’ve tried, the Voyageur 20” is probably my favourite one, and the one I use most often. I’ve taken it on beach holidays, city breaks, and everything in between, and it’s never let me down.

What I love most about the Voyageur is how sturdy (but still stylish) it is. 

I have it in the Yellowblack colour, which always stands out (and makes it impossible to forget at security, which, yes, I have done before). 

It has a Makrolon® polycarbonate shell, which makes it extremely durable without being too heavy. 

One of my favourite things about this case (and in fact every range offered by Level8)  is the 360° spinner wheels. 

Whether I’m rolling it through smooth airport floors or dragging it over cobblestones in Europe, it moves so easily and fairly quietly (and I honestly don’t know why this isn’t a standard for all luggage brands). 

The handle is also much sturdier than the Luminous and the Grace. It’s a lot wider, taking up the full width of the case, again something you don’t see much with other luggage brands, but a feature that I really appreciate. 

It gives a smoother pull and just feels like you have more control when you’re moving through crowded places. 

Inside the case, you can find 2 zippable compartments that help keep your things neat.

While it doesn’t come with packing cubes or any extras, the structure itself makes organisation easy, and I’ve comfortably packed for four-day holidays using just this case.

I also have the Voyaguer checked 28” as part of the Voyaguer collection, which is alsojust as good.  

That said, the Voyageurisn’t perfect. There’s no dedicated laptop compartment, and it can scuff a little more easily than I’d like. But for general travel, it really is hard to beat.

Level8 Luminous Textured Carry-On Review – Best for Weekend Breaks

The Luminous Textured carry-on is the smallest of the three I tested, and I took the 18” version with me on a weekend break in the UK to Norfolk for my dad’s 60th birthday. 

I really loved how light it was, which is perfect for train travel and all the navigating of stairs, station platforms, and train aisles you have to do. 

In terms of design, I would say it’s quite “cute” (probably not the best descriptor for a piece of luggage, but if you take a look, I’m sure you’ll understand what I mean.

They have some really fun colour options to choose from in this range, like green and pink (I went for green), and the diamond-textured shell makes it look more premium than its price might suggest. 

It also holds up well to knocks and scrapes thanks to its anti-scratch surface, which is a bonus if you’re someone who tends to throw your suitcase around a bit (guilty).

Even though it’s compact, it still includes practical features like a TSA-approved lock and super smooth spinner wheels with an anti-shock design, and it also has a similar internal organisation to the Voyageur.

One thing to note: while I used the 18”, the Luminous also comes in a 20” version. If you want a bit more space, that size might be the better pick for you.

In this case, it’s important to know that you won’t fit tech or bulky items easily, and it’s not expandable. 

But if you travel light and want something compact and easy to handle, then the Luminous is ideal.

Key Differences Between the Three Level8 Models

While all three carry-ons come from the same brand and offer that signature Level8 quality, they’re built with very different travellers in mind. 

That said, they do share some great core features. Each one comes equipped with 360° spinner wheels, TSA-approved locks, and well-designed interior compartments to keep your belongings organised.

Here’s how they stack up against each other:

Design & Aesthetic:

• The Luminous is more fun and has a textured finish that hides wear well.

My Favourite: Which One Do I Actually Use the Most?

While each of these Level8 cases has its own strengths, I naturally reach for the Voyageur 20” the most. 

It’s the one I’ve used on multiple holidays, and it just fits my travel style so well. It’s roomy enough to fit clothes for 3–4 days, and the sturdy handle and smooth wheels have been especially useful on cobbled streets and uneven pavements, which is something I run into a lot when travelling across Europe. 

Final Verdict: Which Level8 Carry-On Should You Choose?

If you’re looking to upgrade your luggage, any of these three Level8 carry-ons would be a great choice, but the right one really depends on you and the kind of travel you do most.

Choose the Grace if you travel for work, go for the Voyageur if you want something stylish and versatile. Or pick the Luminous if you value lightweight travel,
